Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice grossed $209.07 million in its first week at the box office. That’s the 11th highest grossing first week ever, behind Iron Man 3‘s $212.4 million.

On Thursday, Batman v Superman earned $7.7 million, down 4 percent from Wednesday. That means G.I. Joe Retaliation keeps the record for best Thursday in March ($10.5 million).

Batman v Superman is poised to benefit from the lack of major new movie releases this weekend. The film is projected to earn $59 million – $66 million in its second weekend. If it crosses $64.6 million, it will have the best second weekend box office of any pre-summer film, passing American Sniper.
