Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were created in 1984, but the Turtles didn’t reach peak Halloween costume popularity until 1993, the same year the third live-action film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time, was released. While Mighty Morphin Power Rangers costumes reached their peak in 1994, less than year of its television show’s premiere (August 28, 1993).
You would figure Batman and Catwoman costumes would’ve at the height of their Halloween costume popularity in 1992 when Tim Burton’s Batman Returns was released, which prominently featured both characters, but that didn’t happen until 1997 — same year Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin was released.
Spider-Man’s costume became popular in 2002 and that interest can be attributed to his first live-action feature film, which was directed by Sam Rami (Evil Dead) and starred Tobey Maguire (Ice Storm) as the Web-Slinger.
