Top Cow’s Matt Hawkins sent an e-mail to Cyber Force‘s Kickstarter supporters late this afternoon, including a striking, black-and-white cover for the series’ forthcoming second issue by Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri.Silvestri’s image features Stryker, who was featured in Cyber Force in the ’90s but also spun off to his own series, Stryke Force, which drew top-tier talent like David Wohl, Steve Gerber, Billy Tan and Michael Turner.

“Attached is Marc’s cover for Cyber Force #2. Stryker! I’m going to talk to Marc this weekend who was up drawing this all night, but since it’s a single character cover I think he may want to drop the price down on it. Look for that potentially over the weekend. We will be doing a HUGE update on Tuesday but please continue to promote this with us over the weekend. We really do believe we can help get some people back into comics and we need your help! So please tweet, facebook and all that good stuff for us if you can. I think it means more coming from you than from us.”
The cover will (as implied above) be added to the Kickstarter incentives, and the original art made available for supporters to buy. The cover to the series’ first issue is currently available for $5,000. The ten-day-old Kickstarter campaign, which hopes to raise $75,000 to make the series free to customers at retail comic book stores, has already raised more than $45,000 of that goal with 20 days remaining before it wraps. The decision to fund the project via Kickstarter was a controversial one, with many fans complaining that an established company like Top Cow should fund it themselves, but much of that criticism ebbed after it was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con International that the Kickstarter was facilitating free distribution.
