When DC Comics revealed that Barbara Gordon would be walking as Batgirlin the new DC Universe, many fans questioned the change, because as theparaplegic Oracle, Barbara Gordon had been one of the few comic bookcharacters with a disability. At San Diego Comic-Con, DC Comics toldfans to be patient that they were working on introducing new characters. Now, DC Comics has announced a brand new character with adisability. The new character is called The Horsewoman and is part ofthe upcoming Demon Knights series. The Horsewoman is described as thegreatest archer in history. The Horsewoman can’t walk, but she isn’t in awheelchair or on crutches.Demon Knights is set back in the Medieval Age, so The Horsewomanactually gets around on a…wait for it….horse (didn’t see that onecoming, did you?).In fact, The Horsewoman has an absolute affinity forall horses (which is why they call her Horsewoman rather thanArcherwoman). According to DC Comics, The Horsewoman is supported in hersaddle by magic and invention. Demon Knights #1 is scheduled to arrivein comic book stores on September 14, 2011.
