“I think the rest of the world sees him as a bad guy. Me, I just think he is misunderstood,” Skrein told MTV. “His name is ‘Ajax,’ or ‘Francis.’ He went through the same Weapon X program Wolverine, and Deadpool later. His superpowers are that he feels nothing. So he feels no pain. But also psychologically what’s interesting is that there are huge parts of his mind that’s missing–the social responsibilities and all those things. So it’s a very interesting character. He really doesn’t feel that much, so I suppose he’s a sociopath in the truest sense.”

Ajax, a.k.a. Francis, is a character whom Deadpool encountered while in the Weapon X program. Rendered mentally unstable thanks to heavy experimentation done on him, Ajax was not able to get along with Wade and his flippant demeanor, demanding respect lest Wade’s friends pay the price. Later, after somehow surviving and escaping from Weapon X, Ajax went on a killing spree, trying to off anyone involved with Weapon X, including Deadpool.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016. You can check out every other upcoming Marvel movie on ComicBook.com’s Comic Book Movie Release Schedule!
