Just when you thought the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice rumors couldn’t possibly get any weirder, this happens. Earlier today, Latino-Review, who has a history of accurately breaking superhero movie scoops, reported that Victor Zsazs, Morgan Edge, David Cain, and Amanda Waller would all be characters in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Later in the day, Badass Digest claimed that Latino-Review’s information came from a leaked script, which also contained various other characters such as Carrie Kelley, Kyle Rayner, and Jason Todd. However, Badass Digest claimed the script was a likely fake for a number of reasons.

Now, MovieWeb is citing a tip from an anonymous source, who is claiming that the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice script is indeed a fake, but here’s where it takes a turn for the bizarre. According to the anonymous source, Warner Bros. commissioned Kevin Smith to write a fake script, which they then leaked to various gossip sites. It was all part of a strategy to misdirect gossip sites from the true direction that director Zack Snyder was going with the film.

So could this latest rumor be true? Since Kevin Smith is usually quite vocal on the Internet, it probably won’t be long before he denies the rumors if they are false. While we wouldn’t have a hard time believing that there might be a fake script circulating, the rumor that Warner Bros. would be behind it seems a little far-fetched.

Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 6, 2016.
