The LEGO Movie was a huge hit for the Warner Animation Group in 2014, gobbling up $470 million at the worldwide box office. And based on the glowing reviews that The LEGO Batman Movie has been receiving, so far, it should be a huge hit as well when it is released this weekend. Following that, the next film in WB’s LEGOverse will be The LEGO Ninjago Movie, which will arrive in theaters this September.
Thus far, we haven’t seen any footage from The LEGO Ninjago Movie, but that’ll soon change. Its debut trailer has already been classified by the British Board of Film Classification, so it will more than likely be attached to The LEGO Batman Movie and appear online any day now.

For now, check out the first official stills from the film in our gallery below. They offer us a look at Lord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), a four-armed villain that also happens to be the estranged father of Lloyd Garmadon (Dave Franco); Master Wu (Jackie Chan), Lloyd’s wise mentor; and five other members of Wu’s team of teenage ninjas.
“Ninjago is one of the most insane places in the universe,” Theroux told USA Today. “So much of it makes no sense. It feels like it came out of the mind of a kid rather than out of the minds of some people sitting in a writers’ room.”
Inspired by the wildly popular LEGO line of toys, Ninjago is the story of six young ninja tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors, using their skill and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens, strugglings against their greatest enemy: high school.
The cast features Dave Franco (Now You See Me 2) as Lloyd, Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) as Garmadon, Fred Armisen (Portlandia) as Cole , Abbi Jacobson (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) as Nya, Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse) as Lloyd’s mom, Kumail Nanjiani (Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates) as Jay, Michael Pena (Ant-Man) as Kai, Zach Woods (Silicon Valley) as Zane, and Jackie Chan (Rush Hour) as Master Wu.
