A new episode of Game of Thrones airs tonight on HBO. Last week’s episode was a controversial one, thanks to the scene in which Jaime Lannister rapes his sister and former lover, Cersei. Otherwise, the episode was a relatively slow one, inching the plots and intrigue forward. How will the new episode follow up?Tonight’s episode is titled “Oathkeeper.” Oathkeeper is the name given to the larger of two Valyrian steel swords Tywin Lannister had forged from Ice. Tywin gave the sword to his son, Jaime, suggesting this episode will focus much of its attention on the controversial character. In last week’s episode, “Breaker of Chains,” the now imprisoned Tyrion went over his options with his loyal squire Podrick Payne. Sam brought Gilley to hide in Mole’s Town. The Night’s Watch brothers who survived the mutiny at Craster’s Keep returned to the wall, leading Jon Snow to suggest marching out to silence the mutineers. The Hound and Arya continued their trip to the Vale. Tywin Lannister made moves to take the new king, Tommen, under his wing and made a deal with the Red Viper of Dorne, Oberyn Martell. Daenerys came to the walls of Meereen, had Daario Naharis defeat the city’s champion, and catapulted broken chains over the city’s walls to inspire its slaves. In “Oathkeeper,” Dany balances justice and mercy. Jaime tasks Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) with his honor. Jon secures volunteers while Bran, Jojen (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Meera (Ellie Kendrick) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) stumble on shelter.Several images and a preview video have been released leading up to the episode. All have been included below.Game of Thrones, “Oathkeeper,” is written by Bryan Cogman and directed by Michelle MacLaren. “Oathkeeper” will air Sunday, April 27 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
