Gladiator Connie Nielsen has been cast in Warner Brothers’ Wonder Woman solo film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 50-year-old Danish actress will play Hippolyta, the Queen of the Amazons and Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) mother. She was created by William Moulton and Marston Harry G. Peter, and her first appearance in DC Comics was in All Star Comics #8 (1941). Yes, it’s same comic that Wonder Woman made her debut as well.
So, who is Robin Wright playing? Many had assumed that the House of Cards star was playing Queen Hippolyta in the film, but that’s clearly not happening. According to her daughter, Wright will be a superhero of some sort. Keep them guesses coming!
The film stars Gal Gadot in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as Captain Steve Trevor and Trevor’s grandfather. It also stars Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saรฏd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis. Wonder Woman is being directed by Patt Jenkins (Monster, AMC’s The Killing).
Wonder Woman feature film is set to open in 2017.
