The same website that once erroneously reported that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was all-but-confirmed to play Star-Lord in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy adaptation now claim they’ve got a good deal of inside dirt on the production.Hitfix is claiming that Wreck-It Ralph and Magnolia star John C. Reilly may star in the film. It also provides some details into the roles played by Gamora, Drax and Rocket Raccoon (although nothing particularly earth-shattering from any of those) and characterizes Marvel as eager to make Chris Pratt their cosmic version of Robert Downey, Jr. — an actor with range and the the ability to get a laugh.According to Hitfix’s report, “Yondu, played by Michael Rooker, is this film’s bad guy, a space pirate of sorts, and at least at the start of the film, Lee Pace will also be playing a villain who will eventually switch sides so he can be set up for his own spin-off film as… someone? Could he be Nova? Adam Warlock? Mar-Vell, which would allow Marvel to then introduce Ms. Marvel to their cinematic staple?”Each of those characters has been rumored to appear in the film before now, of course, so none of this is too far outside of the realm of existing rumor, excepting Yondu’s role and some little things like the involvement of Nick Fury in the story. The report also claims, “By far, though, the biggest news that’s brewing about Guardians right now involves a character named Rhomann Dey. They’ve made an offer to John C. Reilly to play the part, and if he comes aboard, it’s a big commitment. Basically, he’s been designed as the Agent Coulson of the Guardians movies. He’s the human agent who serves as a go-between, keeping the Guardians in line and reporting to S.H.I.E.L.D. about their activities.”In the comic book source material, Rhomann Dey was the leader of the Nova Corps who selected Richard Rider to succeed him as Nova.
