Guardians of the Galaxy: James Gunn Goes Behind the Scenes Again

“The exterior of the Kyln prison walkway, which leads prisoners into the Kyln itself (a much bigger structure four levels high I was standing on to take this picture). The Kyln set was composed of 350,000 pounds of steel. The only way we could afford to do it was to buy the steel, build the set, and then melt the steel down and sell it back. Amazingly, the Kyln was only our third or fourth biggest set.”

Guardians of the Galaxy will hit U.S. theaters on August 1. Monday night, a 17-minute preview will be released, free, in IMAX 3D at select theaters.
