Harrison Ford has been offered the chance to reprise his role as Rick Deckard and the sequel to Blade Runner, according to Variety. The sequel is being director by Ridley Scott, who also directed the original.Details about the sequel’s plot are scarce, but it is said to take place several decades after the events of the original Blade Runner. Hampton Francher and Michael Green are co-writing the script. Alcon Entertainment has been developing the project for three years.”We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time,” said Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. “We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project.”The original Blade Runner was based on Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” In it, Rick Deckard is tasked with hunting down a group of rogue androids in the distant future of 2019 Los Angeles.If Ford does return for the Blade Runner sequel, it would complete a series of late career returns to his most iconic roles, following Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII.
