Kojima is the creator of the Metal Gear series, and del Toro is known for films like Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and Pacific Rim. The two were working together on game called Silent Hills, a reboot of Konami’s horror franchise, until internal strife at the company led to the games cancellation and, eventually, Kojima’s departure.
Kojima will also be inducted into the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame during the D.I.C.E. Awards Ceremony.
Kojima has since reestablished Kojima Productions as an independent studio, and is working with Sony Computer Entertainment on a PlayStation 4 exclusive game.
