Universal Television has optioned the rights to adapt Image Comics’ The Wicked + The Divine in a television series, according to Deadline.

The Wicked + The Divine is a three-time Eisner Award nominated comic, which was created by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie and Matt Wilson. It debuted last June, and has already published 10 issues of what is expected to be a 30 to 60 issue run.

Synopsis: “Every ninety years, twelve gods incarnate as humans. They are loved. They are hated. In two years, they are dead.”

The television series will be produced by comic book veterans Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick, through their Milkfed Criminal Masterminds production company.
