Casting calls have gone out for the series, including two series regulars. The casting descriptions are as follow:
DYLAN KENDALL 25 – 28 yrs old Handsome and sophisticated, independent and a loner. SERIES REGULAR
HARRY MARSHALL 45 – 50 yrs old Caucasian, highly intelligent, merciless, confident and arrogant, physically active. SERIES REGULAR
While the names are scrambled for pre-production, “Dylan Kendell” could certainly be our lead character, Danny Rand, though the name sounds closer to Orson Randall, an older Iron Fist who trained Danny’s father, Wendell Rand. Orson Randall aged slowly, being in peak physical shape and possessed of the power of the Iron Fist, but a 28-year-old actor may still be pushing it for a guy who fought in World War I.
“Harry Marhsall” seems likely to be Harold Meachum, the man who betrayed the Rand family, killing Wendell and his wife and indirectly leading to Danny to K’un-Lun. Though he lost his legs to the cold, Meachum eventually returned to the United States and took control of the company he co-owned with Wendell. There, he bided his time until Danny’s return, so he could take his revenge.
Finally, Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise her role as Jeri Hogarth for the series. Moss first appeared as the calculating lawyer in Marvel’s Jessica Jones. In Marvel Comics, Jeryn Hogarth is a friend of Wendell Rand who later represents Danny Rand, the Rand Corporation, and the Heroes for Hire venture started by Iron Fist and Luke Cage.
Iron Fist is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2017.
