Sounds like James Franco gave it away!
When asked what it’s like to be part of such an iconic film series, Franco responds with:
“The news is out? I don’t know if he’s trying to trick me into talking about it…”
Franco then talks about how the Alien franchise has meant a lot to him growing up, but he can’t talk a lot about it yet.
According to the report, Franco will play Branson in Alien: Covenant. Branson is the captain of the Covenant, the ship that gives the new film its name. He also married to a character named Daniels, played by Katherine Waterson.
Franco’s role is rumored to be a small one, mostly appearing in the first 10 minutes of Alien: Covenant and then popping up briefly here and there throughout the rest of the film. Franco’s Branson will also appear in viral marketing footage that was shot for Alien: Covenant‘s marketing campaign.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant is a sequel to Prometheus and the sixth film in the Alien franchise. The film is directed by Ridley Scott, and stars Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demiรกn Bichir, and Billy Crudup.
Alien: Covenant opens in theaters May 19, 2017.
