While there are no details on the extent of the injury, it was reportedly serious enough that he is flying back to the United States to have surgery on his hand. However, it is also being reported that filming on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will only be “minimally impacted.”
That the filming will only be “minimally impacted” is probably a good sign that Depp will be back to work soon. A Disney spokesperson said that the July 7, 2017 release date of the film would not be impacted.
