Now You See Me 2 will arrive in June 2016 and, with less than a year until release, little is known about the upcoming magician heist flick.

Earlier today, ComicBook.com had the chance to speak with Now You See Me 2 director, Jon M. Chu about this weekend’s release of Jem and the Holograms. Stay tuned for more of our conversation about the live action adaptation of the 80’s cartoon but right now, let’s talk about Now You See Me 2.

Chu couldn’t share much of the plot, but the film is in post-production. “We’re in the middle of it, right now. We shot it, we’re editing now,” Chu said. “I’m really excited about it. It’s really fun to work with the best cast out there. Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, all those people are back. We added Daniel Radcliffe and Lizzy Caplan. Both of them just add so much energy to the movie. It’s a lot of big, crazy magic. It was a blast.” Bigger than the first installment? That would be impressive.

Chu’s sets sure sound like a lot of fun. He spoke of how the Jem cast had a blast, but Now You See Me 2 sounds like a whole different atmosphere. “We had magicians on set like we have choreographers on set for every other movie I’ve done,” Chu explained. “We would just hang and they would hypnotize the extras. Show us how it’s done. We would do card tricks, card street, spider pans, it was like a big giant magic party. Whether it’s magicians, or dancers, or glitter, it’s on my set!”

As for the amount of time which will have passed from the end of Now You See Me to the start of Now You See Me 2, “It’s about real time,” Chu revealed. “The movie doesn’t come out until June, so yeah, it’s about real time.” Poor Mark Ruffalo, or, I mean, Dylan Rhodes, sitting in jail all this time! Or has he?

Jem and the Holograms hits theaters October 23, 2015 and you can catch Now You See Me 2 June 10, 2016.
