On Monday, a big Ant-Man rumor surfaced on Variety suggesting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd were in discussions to play the lead in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man movie. Of course, Comicbook.com first reported on the Paul Rudd as Ant-Man rumor way back in February. There’s definitely some evidence out there suggesting that Marvel Studios has been looking at Paul Rudd as a possible Ant-Man for quite some time. But what about Joseph Gordon-Levitt? It seems his name comes up almost every single time a new superhero is cast. While appearing in Paris to promote Don Juan, Gordon-Levitt addressed the Ant-Man rumors. We use the term addressed, because it’s a little unclear if he actually confirmed the discussions or denied the rumors. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Gordon-Levitt said, “There is always a lot of rumors around these projects and so far it is still only discussions. I am always very transparent when it comes to my role and my career. I’m usually the first to speak and communicate with my fans if something happens . If you hear nothing from me, they are just rumors .”On the one hand, Gordon-Levitt definitely seems to be denying that he has been cast in the role, but he does refer to discussions, so maybe talks are still in the very early stages.Ant-Man is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on July 31, 2015.
