When the Marvel multiverse collides during Secret Wars, the Inhumans will be at the center of the frontlines in Inhumans: Attilan Rising.

A new Secret Wars “Battleword” series by Charles Soule and John Timms, Attilan Rising will find Black Bolt and Medusa at the heart of the Marvel Comics event. With their kingdom unraveling from the events of Secret Wars, the Inhuman king and queen’s relationship will be pushed to the breaking point. While the ravages of war could challenge any relationship, the royal couple will have to endure the extra strain of suddenly existing in a new world, complete with its own inhabitants and threats.

“Medusa and Black Bolt are the core of the story,” Souleย (who also writes the main Inhuman series) told Marvel.com. “I’ve been having a great time developing their relationship in Inhmuan, but it’s been fun to shake things up and think about them in a different way for Attilan Rising.

Though Medusa and Blackbolt’s relationship will driveย the series’ main narrative, Soule promised developments withย Inhumans‘ supporting cast as well. Gorgon, Inferno, Flint, Naja and Frank McGee will also feel the affects of Secret Wars as they join their leaders in confronting the series’ strange new characters.

“At this point, we’re just getting started, but there are a lot of really cool characters and locations to draw, especially this sweet 1930’s-style bar that will play a huge role in the story,” Soule further mentioned.

Based on that last comment, it sounds like the Inhumans may not just be displaced in another realm, but in another time as well. This seems to support the idea that Secret Wars will include Marvel characters from different time eras as well as different universes.

Either way, answers will come soon enough when Inhumans: Attilan Rising and Secret Wars hit comic shelves in May.
