Amanat, who appears around the forty-minute mark, is credited as co-creating, along with writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona, Kamala Khan, the lead character in the current Ms Marvel ongoing series and the most visible Muslim superhero in print.
Amanat drew praise from President Obama, who called her a “real-life superhero,” during his speech.
Amanat, in spite of being a behind-the-scenes talent by comics standards, is no stranger to the spotlight. During her time at Marvel she has appeared on light night talk shows and even hosted a TED Talk.
