He will join Felicia Day as the new mad scientists on the reboot of the cult-hit series, which is being revived on the crowdfunding platform. So far the series has generated more than $3.3 million which guarantees six episodes will be produced. They’re shooting for $5.5 million, which they estimate will give them enough money for a 12-episode season and also encourage potential buyers that there is a significant market for more MST3K.

“Well, you’re going to have to see who we’re going to roll out next week because it will curl your hair, the person we have for the henchman,” series creator Joel Hodgson told ComicBook.com last week. “And they’re pretty evenly matched, Felicia and the new person who’s the henchman. So I think once you see it, it will make a lot of sense to you. What it is, is I look at it as a playing field and you have to put these elements together.”

Day and Oswalt wil be joined by the previously-announced Jonah Ray as the new lead, along with comedians Baron Vaughn as Tom Servo and Hampton Yount as Crow T. Robot.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 is expected to return in 2016.
