Having joined the ranks of the new G.I. Joe movie as the original “Joe,” Bruce Willis appears on his character poster in a suit and tie and–even with a gun in hand–looks every bit the bureaucrat, not somebody you feel likely to see charging into battle. Not so in a new trailer, released today, which shows off the cool tech toys (no pun intended) that both G.I. Joe and Cobra have at their disposal this time around; after a montage of explosions and a little time out for plot exposition and property damage, Willis rides into action (literally) with Lady Jaye and appears to be instrumental in rallying the troops for what comes next. The old soldier is a highlight of this trailer, which shows him wielding at least two different weapons and getting into a close-quarters scrape with the bad guys. There’s also a lot of action from the G.I. Joe ninjas; as a kid, I always thought that Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow worked best in a vacuum, where they were “special” and the only guys not walking around blasting at each other with guns that apparently had serious targeting problems, even if I did have a little crush on Jinx. All of that–including the crush on Jinx–still stands for this trailer, but it looks like love ’em or hate ’em, the ninjas are here to stay.Check out the trailer below, courtesy Digital Spy.
