‘s six-episode pickup for next fall will mark the final season of the cult-favorite action series, The CW confirmed today. The series, which has been consistently on the ratings bubble since its earliest days, does well on video and in digital and international syndication sales but has never really connected with U.S. audiences in a big way.”Nikita‘s final chapter, which is yet to be scheduled, will bring the series full circle, with Nikita once again on the run as a hunted rogue for a murder she didn’t commit as she attempts to clear her name as well as spare the people she loves,” Deadline reports. They add that the pickup is “part of CW president Mark Pedowitz’s efforts to give the network’s long-running series a satisfying ending for fans.”The series is loosely based on the French film Nikita, the remake Point of No Return, and a previous series La Femme Nikita. The first series, which ran on USA, ran for five seasons compared to Nikita‘s four.
