Fire up those Jager’s, Pacific Rim fans! According to a new report, Derek Connolly is putting pen to paper as the new writer for Pacific Rim 2. Considering his last script work was co-writing last year’s smash hit, Jurassic World, it’s safe to say Connolly has had some practice writing big monster movies.

This follows the news from a few months ago that Daredevil season one show runner Steven DeKnight would take on the directing reins from Guillermo del Toro.

According to the report, there seems to be drafts of the script in motion from del Toro, Zak Penn & Jon Spaihts. We’ll see if Connolly is coming in for a full rewrite or just modifying what’s been done before him.

It looks like Legendary is real happy with the work Connolly has been doing not only on Jurassic World 2, but also Kong: Skull Island as well. Could he become the new King of the Monsters?
