LuPone will play Dr. Seward, an American therapist who treats Eva Green’s Vanessa Ives with “an unconventional new approach,” according to Variety.

The title refers to the penny dreadfuls, a type of 19th-century cheap British fiction publication with lurid and sensational subject matter.
