After a full day spent roaming the SDCC floor, attending panels and catching the new footage from Marvel and DC films, hundreds of SDCC attendees spent their Saturday night roaming a San Diego bar district hunting for Pokemon. Caitlin Teasdale organized an unofficial bar crawl for SDCC Saturday night, which attracted plenty of Pokemon and trainers.

The event took place in the Gaslamp District, a historical district filled with nightclubs and bars that sits next to the San Diego Convention Center where Comic-Con takes place. Several bars participated in the event, using Lures at nearby PokeStops to attract fans and Pokemon. The event was large enough to attract the attention of several companies, offering battery chargers and other free merchandise to Pokemon Go players.

The Pokemon Go bar crawl was popular enough that Teasdale, who is simply an avid Pokemon Go player, already is planning next year’s event. If Niantic releases a Legendary Bird at SDCC later today, she may have a much larger crowd as thousands of Pokemon Go players may travel to San Diego next year in the hopes of getting a rare Pokemon at the convention.
