***SPOILER WARNING!***
The new Power Rangers movie includes a super-exciting post-credits scene that teases the arrival of the Green Ranger. It begins with a bearded-teacher supervising high-school detention. He’s sitting at his desk, looking down at a piece of paper. He announces to the rest of the students being kept in school after hours, “We have a new detention student: Tommy Oliver.” He then calls out the name several more times, but Tommy didn’t stick around for role call, so he or she never responds. During this, the camera zooms in on Tommy’s desk, and we see Tommy’s green jacket draped over his empty chair.

Seeing as though the Green Ranger is the most popular Power Ranger of them all, this is a coveted role, and up until it’s officially cast, people will be non-stop debating which actor is right for it. If it was up to the Power Rangers young cast, Green Ranger/Tommy Oliver would be portrayed by a female actor.
“A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl,” Dacre Montgomery told The Hollywood Reporter. “It makes it even three girls, three boys.”
“It’s left blank,” he adds, referring to how ambiguous the scene is. “It’s a cliffhanger. Whoever you’re going to drop into that position โ whether it’s a girl, it’s inevitably going to create drama. It’ll be interesting to drop that drama into it and see how we all relate to it and work with it.”
In the ’90s Power Rangers TV series, Tommy Oliver (portrayed by Jason David Frank) became the Green Ranger , the first evil Power Ranger ever created. He was brainwashed by Rita Repulsa into ambushing and dismantling the Power Rangers. He wreaked havoc on the team until Red Ranger/Jason freed him. After that, Tommy became the new leader of Power Rangers, eventually morphing into the White Ranger.
