Next January, the teenage heroine will make a comeback as Sailor Moon R: The Movie will be rereleased into theaters. Now, fans have learned just when the anime feature will hit cinemas and where exactly they can go to catch the flick.

It’s time to mark you calendars; Sailor Moon R: The Movie will hit theaters on January 20, 2017. Eleven Arts and Viz Media have partnered to bring the beloved movie back to theaters for an exclusive screening.
If you’re still on the fence about going, then you should know the screenings will be giving away some sweet Sailor Moon swag. More than 300 theaters across the country will screen the anime movie, and they will have some limited gifts. Attendees will get an exclusive Sailor Guardian character board while supplies last.
The event will also preface the film with “Make Up! Sailor Guardians,” an anime short published back in 1993. The clip follows Usagi and Chibiusa overhear patrons at a coffee shop argue over which Sailor Scout is the best.
After the short airs, fans will get to watch Sailor Moon R on the silver screen. The film first premiered in 1993 in Japan before Pioneer Entertainment brought to film to Western audiences in 1999. The story follows Tuxedo Mask when Mamoru was just a kid. The small boy gives a flower to another child named Fiore who then promises Mamoru he will come back to repay him for the kindness. However, Fiore’s return isn’t exactly pleasant, and it falls to the Sailor Scouts to prevent his scheming plot.
