According to the Tracking Board, Warner Brothers is currently developing a new animated feature film for Speedy Gonzales. “The comedy is being produced by Dylan Sellers through his Rivers Edge Films and Eugenio Derbez through his 3Pas Studios,” they report. “Jesse Ehrman is overseeing for the studio.”
The super-fast, cheese-craving mouse has been featured in 46 Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies’ cartoons since he was first introduced in 1953. Speedy Gonzales is known for wearing a yellow over-sized Charro, white shirt and trousers, and a bright-red red kerchief.
Several years ago, a Speedy Gonzales movie had been in the works at New Line, and it would have starred comedian/actor George Lopez as the voice of the title character, but it stalled out.
As of right now, there is no screenwriter or director attached to the project.
