In this week’s Star Wars Rebels, the young Rebel Alliance goes to Atollon, a planet completely uncharted by the Empire, to establish a new base. Of course, things don’t all go according to plan when they meet the planet’s inhabitants: giant spider-like creatures.

During the weekly “Rebels Recon” aftershow on StarWars.com (you can watch it in full above), it was revealed that the planet was definitely outside the sphere of the Empire – of course, by the time of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, the Rebel Alliance isn’t on Atollon anymore, so don’t expect that to go on for too long.
Showrunner Dave Filoni and Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo also talked about the Jedi, and the season finale that everyone’s on pins and needles anticipating.
“We essentially said goodbye to Hera, Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper for the season,” said Hidalgo. He confirmed that the hour-long season 2 finale will be “all Jedi” as they travel to the Sith Temple on Malachor. That means we’ll only be seeing Kanan and Ezra in the finale, accompanied of course by Ahsoka.
Filoni also addressed Ezra’s struggle in Force-communicating with the spiders, in much the same way Ahsoka did. “Ezra has a lot that he thinks he knows and understands about the Force,” he teased. “Thinks” being the operative word, there.
Star Wars Rebels returns Wednesday, March 30 for a two-episode season finale entitled, “Twilight of the Apprentice.” The question is: which Apprentice? Ezra or Ahsoka?
