The new title is being designed to be just as difficult as the original, and you should expect do die numerous times. That said, the developer is making sure to pack in plenty of replayability with their “fast setup, long reveal” mechanic. This is also supposed to get games started in a quicker fashion, which some tabletop game struggle with. You and up to 3 other players will take on multiple boss and mini-boss characters, and will have to reveal new locations as you go along, making sure to keep track of your stamina and your wits as you make your way through.
As for the miniatures, there are plenty of Dark Souls fans at Steamforged, so they are cherrypicking some of their favorite enemies and bosses from all three games, including the newly revealed Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough, which you can see above. The details on these are stellar, and as were their Guildball minis, so the quality should be on point.
We will all get a chance to see more of the game when they launch their Kickstarter on April 19th.
