Terry Moore Selling Off the Brushes He Used to Draw Strangers in Paradise, Rachel Rising, and Echo

Tomorrow morning, 30 fans will have the chance to own a piece of indie comics history.

Strangers in Paradise and Rachel Rising creator Terry Moore is selling off the brushes he has used to draw some of the most acclaimed comics of the last 25 years, all at once, via his website.

At 11 a.m. ET, Moore will make thirty art brushes available for $30 each — and will presumably either be restocking his supply drawer or moving on to digital-only comics creation. Moore told fans on social media that these thirty brushes were the only ones he’s used on his professional comics work since Strangers in Paradise began in 1993.

The announcement came this evening after Moore teased it all afternoon, using the “30 for $30” as a hook and suggesting that the item he was going to sell could be seen in his header image, which depicted Moore sitting at a drawing table, a page of original art in front of him and a brush in his hand, against a backdrop of the hardcovers and omnibus trade paperbacks based on his creator-owned work.

“I’ve used just 30 brushes for all my comics work since 1993,” Moore finally tweeted. “Selling them for $30 each, S/N, COA. Tomorrow 10AM CST on my site.”

Moore has done some work-for-hire over the years, notably a run on Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and a Treehouse of Horror story in The Simpsons comics, but is best known for his years-long, creator-owned series Strangers in Paradise. The comic ran from 1993 until 2007 and will return in 2018 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
