Variety reports: “The one-hour drama pilot is described as a modern reinvention inspired by Blatty’s book โ a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.”
20th Century Fox Television is collaborating with Morgan Creek Productions on the project, which was written by by Jeremy Slater, who is serving as the show’s executive producer alongside James Robinson, David Robinson and Barbara Wall.
The Exorcist (1973) tells the tale of a 12-year-old girl named Regan (Blair) who became possessed by an evil supernatural entity after playing with a Ouija board. Father Karras (Jason Miller) and Father Merrin (Sydow) are called in to help, but what they experience is no run of the mill exorcism.
