This year, the Fast & Furious franchise will be racing back into theaters with a brand-new installment. Vin Diesel and his crew will return in The Fate of the Furious alongside stars such as Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren. The feature is a long-awaited one which fans have kept a close eye on, and the expectations for the eighth film are running high. With so much to cover, it wouldn’t be too surprising for the film to get an extended runtime, but recent reports are now popping up which say The Fate of the Furious may be a long ride.

As reported by Polygon, a European site known as Cinemarx reportedly discovered the film’s runtime. IMDB has since adopted the lengthy, 160-minute runtime for their own resources, but no official world has been given on the rumored reveal.

If the report is true, then fans should expect to watch a lot of Fast & Furious when the franchise makes its comeback. 160 minutes goes well over two hours and would make The Fate of the Furious the longest of its kind. The last Fast & Furious movie clocked in just over 2.15 hours while the sixth film hit just below that.

In recent years, films have seen their runtimes tick upwards, but no major blockbuster has reached a 2.4 hour length. The Revenant came close thanks to Martin Scorsese as the award-winning film ended at 2.35 hours.

For The Fate of the Furious, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar winner Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell, and Diesel.
