Now, production on the next batch of episodes are underway, once again.

“As I prepare to work again tomorrow, I’m again thinking of John’s family and friends and of John,” series regular Pollyanna McIntosh, who plays Jadis, wrote on Instagram on Sunday. “My heart goes out to you all and the rest of your set family and families who’ve known John and his art.”

As McIntosh and the cast and crew of The Walking Dead prepare to head back to set for more production of Season 8, it is not without many having paid tribute to Bernecker.

When AMC elected to halt production immediately following the accident. “We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” the network said in a statement. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Following Bernecker’s passing the network and showrunner Scott Gimple have released new statements regarding the tragic situation.

“John Bernecker’s family has decided that he will be removed from life support, following organ donation,” AMC said. “We are deeply saddened by this loss and our hearts and prayers are with John’s family, friends and colleagues during this extremely difficult time.”

“Our production is heartbroken by the tragic loss of John Bernecker,” Gimple said. “John’s work on The Walking Dead and dozens of other movies and shows will continue to entertain and excite audiences for generations. We are grateful for his contributions, and all of us send our condolences, love, and prayers to John’s family and friends.”

The cast and crew of The Walking Dead will head to San Diego Comic Con later this week, where the series will debut its Season 8 trailer. There will likely be tributes and respects paid to Bernecker there, as well.
