Tonight’s the night. It’s the last day of The Walking Dead‘s sixth season and, based on the title of the episode, it’s the last day on Earth for at least one of our beloved characters.

The back half of season six has been a momentous build to Negan’s arrival and the character will finally make his appearance as he encounters Rick and the survivors from Alexandria. Having only heard stories about the apparently vicious boogey man, Rick launched an assault against his group, the self-named Saviors. So far, Rick’s group has handled their assaults and escaped mostly unscathed.
Two weeks ago, the Saviors made their first strike against Alexandria when Dwight used Daryl’s crossbow to take out Denise. Just last week, that same Savior shot Daryl, already having Glenn and Michonne as hostages.
Still, the body count is much higher on the hands of Rick Grimes than it is Negan’s, right now. That will likely be getting more level soon.
The official synopsis for Last Day on Earth reads, “To save one of their own, Rick’s group must venture outside the walls; their experience changes their lives forever.”
There is a number of candidates the group could be hoping to rescue in Last Day on Earth. Daryl is down. Michonne and Glenn have been tied up. Rosita is somewhere in that mix. Morgan is out on his own and so is an emotionally distraught Carol. Alexandria is divided and the Saviors are ready to strike.
The extended 90-minute finale of The Walking Dead‘s sixth season airs tonight at 9 PM ET on AMC.
