No details were provided about who Ato will be playing in the film.
In fact, not much is known about the film outside the small nuggets Matt Damon provided a few weeks ago, saying it’ll focus on the post-Snowden world and an austerity-riddled Europe.
As for Ato, he landed a plum role this year in Martin Scorsese’s 1970s HBO drama Vinyl and is best known for his roles in Blood Diamond, Django Unchained, Treme and Elementary. Oh, and he also had a small but memorable role as Titembay the African exchange student that lives with Natalie Portman’s family in Garden State.
Next Bourne film, being directed by Paul Greengrass, is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2016. The cast includes Matt Damon, Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel and Ato Essandoh.
