Earlier today, JoBlo.com ran a report describing a very Amazon warrior princess look for Wonder Woman in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. They described Wonder Woman as wearing a blue leather skirt, silver-armored cuffs that reach to her elbows, golden tiara (with a design of some sort in the center, possibly the red star) and a variation of the traditional-looking red top. They also noted that Wonder Woman would be carrying four weapons, including a shield, sword, spear, and the traditional lasso.

The description sounds strikingly similar to the Wonder Woman design that Jim Lee did for the Superman: For Tomorrow story arc back in 2004 and 2005. Could it be that the Wonder Woman costume in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be based on this Wonder Woman design (shown above and below) by Jim Lee?
Well, ComicBook.com decided to do a little investigating, and we uncovered this video below from Jim Lee’s appearance at the Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con this past Saturday.
When asked by a fan about his designs affecting the look of Superman in Zack Snyder’s movies, Jim Lee gave this response.
I designed the costume, like the one that was part of the New 52 before they started production on Superman. I don’t know if they were influenced by it. I haven’t asked Zack Snyder that directly, but I know that he was looking at a lot of comic book work, and he specifically called out the work I did. Although, the work I did was on For Tomorrow, and that didn’t have the new costume. He is a fan of comic books, and I think he is inspired by the stuff that is produced in comics, so it wouldn’t surprise me, but that design pre-dated the New 52 by at least a year, I think.
Could it be that the reason that Zack Snyder was looking at For Tomorrow was not for inspiration on a Superman design, but for inspiration on a Wonder Woman design?
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on May 6, 2016.
