Most know the tale of Noah from the Bible, but AfterShock’s new series will reveal that Noah’s was not the only one.

When God decided to wash away mankind’s wickedness, he tasked Noah with collecting one of every animal, protecting them inside a handbuilt Ark that would survive the flood. Writer Cullen Bunn decided to have some fun with the mythology and theorized that a second Ark was also being built.
This “Dark Ark” would hold the unnatural creatures of the world, like Vampires and Dragons, and the journey they make on the Ark forms the backbone of his latest series at Aftershock Comics, which you can find a preview of in the gallery.
Bunn has no complaints about his second time around with AfterShock.
“It’s been great!” said Bunn. “They’ve been very supportive and they obviously aren’t afraid to tackle some of my stranger concepts! Both UNHOLY GRAIL and DARK ARK are pretty wild stories!”
The writer loves working with monsters and otherworldly creatures, and Dark Ark will have plenty.
“DARK ARK is story about monsters–and I mean almost every type of monster you can imagine–struggling to live together in very close quarters” Bunn said. “These are creatures of nightmare and legend, and they don’t get along at all. It’s a murder mystery. It’s packed with intrigue and treachery and double-crossing. It’s the story of one man’s quest for redemption… while helping to preserve the worst beasts in the world. And it’s even got a little romance… some heartwarming, some very disturbing.”
Dark Ark #1 is written by Cullen Bunn with art by Juan Doe and letters by Ryane Hill. Doe also provides the issue’s A cover, while cover B is provided by Phil Hester.
