Fictional multiverses have become more and more popular over the years, leading to a lot of intrigue – and confusion – from fans. But some might not realize just how many franchises have gotten in on the trend – even one 80s toy icon.

Back in 2015, DC Comics‘ He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series took quite a few readers by surprise when it established its own comic multiverse. In the series’ 14th issue, Skeletor ended up falling through a crack in reality, and stumbling on a menagerie of alternate versions of himself. You can check out the page below.
The He-Man “multiverse” appears to include far more than the characters’ comic appearances. The page above includes both He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series, He-Man: The Most Powerful Game, and even a Robot Chicken sketch about the franchise. Granted, the page is sorely missing Frank Langella’s Skeletor from the live-action Masters of the Universe film, but it’s safe to assume he’s included in the multiverse as well.
DC’s He-Man series might have ended in 2016, but there’s been plenty of effort to bring its colorful cast of characters to life again. A big-screen reboot of the franchise has been in various stages of development for years, and while it currently does not have a director or cast, it is currently set to be released in 2019.
Once He-Man and the Masters of the Universe returns to the pop culture landscape, let’s hope that the multiverse concept continues along with it. After all, there are plenty of creative adaptations of the franchise that deserve to be made canon.
