Warning: spoilers for Suicide Squad follow.
Suicide Squad not only borrowed a couple of characters from the upcoming Justice League film but it also borrowed the film’s director for a scene. That’s right, Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman, and Justice League director Zack Snyder who is credited as an executive producer on Suicide Squad directed a scene which involved one of his characters.

Having seen Suicide Squad, we know that Ezra Miller’s The Flash had a quick cameo appearance in which he thwarted Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang’s bank robbery mission. It was a welcome addition to the film and a nice way to remind us how connected the DC Films are. “Flash was always in the movie, we just got lucky because Justice League was happening and they had the uniform, they had the assets, so we were able to get that photography,” Suicide Squad director David Ayer tells Collider.
The scene was directed by Snyder, Ayer revealed, and wasn’t filmed and added in until Suicide Squad was in post production. In fact, the scene was shot in London, where Justice League is currently deep into production. Snyder shot it during production of Justice League and sent it to Suicide Squad‘s post-production team. Ezra Miller was never on the set of Suicide Squad.
It’s worth noting that other footage directed by Snyder also made the cut when we caught a glimpse of Superman’s funeral as originally seen in the Zack Snyder directed Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
