Ben Affleck recently teased DC fans with some live-action footage of Deathstroke the Terminator, which has fueled speculation about where the iconic DC Comics assassin will appear in the DC Extended Universe. Will we see him as soon as Justice League, next year? Or is his DCEU debut being saved for something like Ben Affleck’s Batman solo movie?
While we wait for that answer, we’re also left to speculate on who is playing Deathstroke in the DCEU. The leading rumor is that True Blood and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello is the DCEU version of Deathstroke, but there other actors who could be playing the role (at least the masked version of the character) as well.

In a rare bit of Internet optimism, fans have by and large embraced the idea of Joe Manganiello suiting up as Slade Wilson in the DCEU. Now, whether that’s because Manganiello has serious geek cred (thanks to True Blood and long rumors about him being the DCEU Superman), or because the actor is a nice spiritual successor to Manu Bennet, who turned Slade Wilson into a more mainstream icon via a great character arc in season 2 of Arrow. Either way, it’s good to see that this instance of DCEU casting rumor isn’t setting the interwebs ablaze with hate.
Seeing Manganiello’s Deathstroke go toe-to-toe with Ben Affleck’s Batman is something most everyone can get behind.
