Just like its LEGO Movie predecessor, this Batman film is gearing up to be remembered as one of this decade’s best.
You could also make the argument that LEGO Batman is not only a great superhero film, but DC’s best film of all time.
It’s tough to unseat a movie like The Dark Knight, but here’s a few reasons why LEGO Batman deserves the top spot in DC history.
It Was Relatable
LEGOย Batman worked so well because the audience was able to relate to it. The idea of Joker and Batman have a “broken relationship” is something that each person in the theater can understand.
This is something the Christopher Nolan movies did so well. They made Batman a simpler man that people understood.
The LEGO version did that, while also adding in a ton of humor. While Batman doesn’t need to be funny, the movie knocked both elements out of the park.

Everyone Was The Audience
Many superhero movies fall short in their ability to reach a universal audience. The Dark Knight resonated with adults, but kids found it intense and scary.ย
While the darker movies aren’t meant for kids, it’s awesome to see a movie that can reach multiple audiences.
Long-time Batman fans loved the movie for its small moments and Easter Eggs, kids loved the animation and the lessons learned, and normal grown-ups enjoyed the meta-humor and voice work.
There’s literally something for every single person in LEGO Batman. Guardians Of The Galaxy is the only other superhero movie that can even come close to saying that.

Captured The Essence Of Batman
Even though LEGO Batman was silly at times, it got the classic character spot-on. No other film has been able to capture the essence of Batman, while also hitting a home-run in the Bruce Wayne department.
In LEGO Batman, fans were able to see how much being a hero affected Bruce Wayne’s everyday life. Each of his actions were addressed throughout the film, and you could see exactly how they changed him.
The funny parts also tackled Batman’s relationships with his friends and enemies, and was able to portray them perfectly.

All The Villains
This movie had all of Batman’s best villains; literally all of them. From Joker to Calendar Man, everyone was represented.
Most superhero films have a hard time getting one villain right. It’s unfortunate, but true.
LEGO Batman was able to include a horde of these characters – as well as other famous movie villains – and still make them each seem genuine. Joker was the highlight of the crowd, as the film actually dove into why his relationship with Batman was broken in the first place.
