The success of Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman at the box office elicited many to believe that a sequel was imminent. Thankfully that has now been confirmed, with a tease as to where it will take place.

Actually, when is the more accurate term. Warner Bros. Pictures chief Toby Emmerich took over the role last December and has been working hard to understand all he can about the DC Universe. As he told Variety, that future plan definitely includes Diana Prince and confirmed that Jenkins is already in the early stages of working on the sequel.

He also confirmed it wouldn’t be another World War 1 piece, but that it will be set in the past. As to where in the past, he is leaving fans a very broad breadcrumb trail, saying coyly “It will take place somewhere between 1917 and 2017.”

That means World War II is always a possibility, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be during war time. It could always jettison to the modern day, but that seems unlikely unless it is like the first film, where the modern day bookends the main story.

You can find the official synopsis for Wonder Woman below. The film currently has an 87.07 on ComicBook.com’s composite rankings.

Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powersโ€ฆand her true destiny.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and is written by Allan Heinberg, Geoff Johns, and Zack Snyder.
