Kevin Smith, who is directing the fifth episode of the show’s third season, recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo of the pair on his Twitter. The photo comes straight from Smith’s on-set monitor, and shows Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) looking into each other’s eyes. You can check it out below.

The state of Maggie and Alex’s relationship has largely been up in the air since the end of Supergirl‘s second season. While the pair were dealt a massive marriage proposal cliffhanger in the season two finale, it was soon overshadowed by the news of Lima stepping down as a series regular.
But with showrunner Jessica Queller being optimistic about Lima’s return – and with 24 alum Carlos Bernard set to appear as Maggie’s father – it sounds like Sanvers isn’t down for the count.
It appears that Smith is having fun directing his third Supergirl episode, after previously helming two episodes of the show’s second season. The fan-favorite director also shared a photo of his director’s chair on set, with the DEO offices in the background.

It is still unknown what Smith’s episode of Supergirl season three is actually titled, or how it will factor into the season-long fight against Reign (Odette Annabelle). Fans will just have to wait until the show returns in October to find out.
Ridding National City of Queen Rhea and her Daxamite army was a major win for Supergirl, but one that came at a significant cost, as Kara was forced to sacrifice her budding relationship with Mon-El. When season three returns with all-new supercharged adventures this fall on The CW, Kara and team will come up against a new threat in the form of DC Worldkiller, Reign.
Supergirl premieres Monday, October 9th, at 8/7c, on The CW.
