All-Star Batman

1 - All Star Batman Rebirth

ย

All-Star Batman

Written by Scott Snyder

Art by John Romita Jr., Jock, Sean Murphy, Declan Shalvey, and others

Both Batman and Detective Comics are off to very strong starts, but who isn’t excited to see what Scott Snyder will do when returning to this icon after a brief hiatus? Unlike his run on Batman, which was marked by epic scale stories, All-Star Batman will provide a focus on a variety of foes in a road trip scenario. The most exciting component of the book has to be the rotating team of artists though. From former Snyder collaborators like Jock and Sean Murphy to new teammates like John Romita Jr. and Declan Shalvey, this is truly an all-star lineup.

Suicide Squad: War Crimes

2 - Suicide Squad War Crimes Rebirth

ย

Suicide Squad: War Crimes Special #1

Written by John Ostrander

Art by Gus Vazquez

There is no creator more important to the Suicide Squad franchise than John Ostrander. It was his definitive run as the writer of the series in the late 80s and early 90s, accompanied by wife Kim Yale, that made the Squad a permanent part of the DC Universe and created a following for characters like Amanda Waller and Deadshot. Now Ostrander is returning to tell one more tale with the dangerous men and women he spent so much time with. It’s a perfect chance for old fans to get one more dose of Ostrander’s writing and new ones to discover this DC trailblazer.

New Superman

3 - New Super Man Rebirth

ย

New Super-Man

Written by Gene Luen Yang

Art by Viktor Bodganovic

When Gene Luen Yang joined DC Comics last year it was a major coup. Yang is a voice for comics on an international level, acting as an advocate for the entire medium. His work on American Born Chinese and Boxers & Saints are taught in schools, and for good reason. Now the writer is bringing his unique perspective on comics and identity to the greatest superhero icon of all time: Superman. If that wasn’t reason enough to be excited, previews of rising star Viktor Bodganovic’s artwork reveal this series won’t just be thoughtful, it’ll be stunning.

Batgirl

4 - Batgirl Rebirth

ย

Batgirl

Written by Hope Larson

Art by Rafael Albuquerque

Perhaps the single most significant success to come late in the New 52 era of DC Comics was the “Batgirl of Burnside”. While the creators of that era have departed, they’ve left the character and concept in very good hands. Larson is about to break into mainstream comics in a big way based on a very impressive resume and Albuquerque’s work at DC Comics speaks for itself. There’s no doubt that Batgirl will continue to kick butt and have fun in Gotham’s coolest up and coming neighborhood.

Deathstroke

5 - Deathstroke Rebirth

ย

Deathstroke

Written by Christopher Priest

Art by Carlo Pagulyan, Igor Vitorino, and Felipe Watanabe

Christopher Priest has been away from superhero comics for a little while, so it’s understandable why this wasn’t the most talked about announcement from the DC Rebirth launch event. But it definitely should have been. Priest’s Black Panther is a work of incredible passion, political thought, and humor. Now he’s bringing all of that to DC’s deadliest mercenary: Deathstroke. With a killer art team, this bi-weekly series should provide plenty of unexpected twists on this classic character.

Supergirl

6 - Supergirl Rebirth

ย

Supergirl

Written by Steve Orlando

Art by Brian Ching

If you didn’t read Steve Orlando’s work on Midnighter, you missed out on something special. But now Orlando is back with stylish new artist Brian Ching on something very different. Whereas Midnighter embraced violence and blood, it looks like the sun will be shining and optimism will be in the air in Supergirl. A variety of different Supermen are battling it out for that title, but there’s only one Supergirl at DC Comics and it looks like she’s here to stay.

Suicide Squad: Most Wanted

7 - Suicide Squad Most Wanted Rebirth

ย

Suicide Squad: Most Wanted

Written by Jai Nitz, Michael Moreci, Christopher Sebela, and more

Art by Cliff Richards, Oscar Bazaldua, and more

With the Suicide Squad movie hitting theaters in August, it only makes sense that there will be a lot of comics on the shelves for new fans to discover. In addition to a new series and the previously mentioned one-shot, this “Most Wanted” mini-series will highlight many of the Squad’s unique members. It will also serve to highlight some of the most exciting new talent at DC Comics with Michael Moreci covering a Captain Boomerang story and Christopher Sebela working on Killer Croc. It’s a great opportunity to discover new comics talent and new favorite baddies.

Blue Beetle

8 - Blue Beetle Rebirth

ย

Blue Beetle

Written by Keith Giffen

Art by Scott Kolins

Many fans have been waiting since the beginnings of Infinite Crisis for Ted Kord to return. Others have longed for Jaime Reyes to show off his full potential since his New 52 series was cancelled. Now we can get the best of both worlds as these two fan favorite holders of the Blue Beetle title team up to save the day. Keith Giffen’s trademark humor can be expected along with some excellent action sequences from Scot Kolins in a series that will be the answer to many prayers.

The Hellblazer

9 - The Hellblazer Rebirth

ย

The Hellblazer

Written by Simon Oliver

Art by Moritat

When you think of John Constantine, you probably think of the dregs of humanity. His story is composed of bad choices and even worse monsters. There are few better creative teams at DC Comics to portray that than writer Simon Oliver and artist Moritat. Oliver’s work on The Exterminators and Moritat’s on Elephantmen shows they know how to deliver the grotesque alongside some fascinating, if ugly, characters. This very well may be the version of The Hellblazer that fans have been seeking since the end of Constantine’s time at Vertigo.

Trinity

10 - Trinity Rebirth

ย

Trinity

Written by Francis Manapul

Art by Francis Manapul and Clay Mann

There are no three characters more emblematic of DC Comics than Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. While there have been plenty of team up series between two of these three, DC Comics isn’t playing a Meatloaf song and it’s time we got the complete deal. Not only will all three of these characters be around, but they’ll be beautifully presented by one of DC Comics’ best artists (and now writers) Francis Manapul. Whatever happens here, it will be glorious to look at.
