While promoting his new Netflix show Frontier on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jason Momoa and the titular host took a break from the usual couch chat to unwind with some beer and axe throwing. You know, a regular Thursday night.
Momoa’s character in the new series, Declan Harp, is an axe-throwing bad ass, and Kimmel thought it appropriate to demonstrate the skills after Momoa assured him he’d be better with a beer in his hand. Kimmel’s sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez retrieved some Guiness before the the axe throwing kicked off.

“Does Aquaman drink beer?” Kimmel asked.
“Of course,” Momoa replied. “Because he’s half human and, obviously, half Atlantean. So, y’know, his human side likes beer.”
“Can he drink beer underwater?”
“Oh no.”
They both remarked “that would be AMAZING,” before throwing some axes.
Momoa brought a few of his own homemade axes, including one as a gift for Kimmel, and the two tried their skills at hitting a target across the studio, in front of the studio audience. Momoa’s key advice to Kimmel was this pearl: “Throw it hard.”
With beer glass in hand, Momoa tossed a few that were unable to stick into the target. But then he set the drink down and really let the axes sink in.
Frontier is now playing on Netflix, with another season of episodes coming in the future.
