Oliver Queen has got a new adversary coming to Arrow for season five…and he’s going to be a series regular right out of the gate.

TVLine reports that a casting call has gone out for a character currently just called James — a charming contemporary of Oliver Queen’s who is on a mission of vengeance.
The character will “just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy — and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he’s more than capable of having a good time as he does it.”
Being a contemporary of Oliver Queen also makes us wonder: what if this character is a brutal superhero in the vein of The Punisher or Vigilante, and not a pure villain? At this point, it’s been at least a year since Oliver had a non-vigilante job where he might have contemporaries at all, excepting maybe his run for mayor.
If it’s a vigilante, maybe we could see a TV version of somebody like The Question, Wild Dog, or Vigilante? Two of those three have long been hoped for by Arrow fans and the third (Wild Dog) seems to appear on the cover of an upcoming issue of Green Arrow.
