When Black Canary died, many Arrow fans were as disappointed by the idea of never seeing actress Katie Cassidy on the show again as they were about Laurel Lance being gone. It turns out they had nothing to fear in that regard as Cassidy returned to play the Earth-2 version of Laurel Lance, supervillain Black Siren.

How exactly Laurel Lance turned out to be a villain on Earth-2 still remains a bit unclear. That’s understandable since it’s usually The Flash dealing with alternate realities and not Arrow. At Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in the United Kingdom, Arrow co-star Emily Bett Rikards asked Cassidy about Black Siren’s history and relationships on Earth-2.
Cassidy confirmed that Earth-2 Laurel Lance is still the daughter of Quentin Lance and is still Sarah Lance’s sister, and also that her relationships outside of her family remain in place as well. “She has, on Earth-2, all you guys play a role,” Cassidy explained, adding that “You’re the same in the flesh” but not necessarily in other aspects. “[Quentin] is my father on Earth-2, but he’s a different person internally. Same with my boyfriend.”
Arrow just concluded its fifth season finale in spectacular fashion and will return to The CW in the fall for season six.

Green Arrow‘s public defeat of Damien Darhk at the end of Season Four has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles, rather than allies, in the field. The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow.
